PROGRAM: The term "program" refers primarily to a sequence of courses culminating in the award of a degree or certificate; e.g., Associate Degree Nursing, Paraprofessional Accounting. The term "program" may also refer to a service unit. A program can also be a campus-wide instructional effort of interest to accreditation; e.g., General Education, Transfer, Basic Skills, Continuing Education.
PROGRAM LEARNER OUTCOME: For the purposes of program assessment, "program outcomes" describe what a student knows and is able to do at the end of a program. Instructional programs are strongly encouraged to focus on learner outcomes.
PROGRAM OBJECTIVE: For the purposes of program assessment, service units often write Program Objectives. A program objective describes what a program should be able to do support student learning or campus operations.
ANNUAL OUTCOMES REPORT: The Annual Outcomes Report (Forms A & B) will be used by all programs to report their progress. The report includes the programs mission statement, its connection to the college mission, the outcomes, the assessments for those outcomes, any results collected so far and an action plan. .
THE FIVE-YEAR SUMMARY REPORT: Programs will submit The Five-Year Summary Report at the completion of their in-depth self-study. It contains a summary of the data provided in the Annual Progress Reports, results and comments on the required assessments, and results and comments on any optional assessments.
IEG: The Institutional Effectiveness Group is a campus committee with representatives from staff, faculty and administration charged with implementing PEP and monitoring the process.
